Hey Gardening Goddess Friends and the few Gardening Guys who may wander onto this blog,

Welcome!!! It's been a busy, busy, busy week in my little section of Oklahoma Prairie Paradise. I've been so busy trying to actually grow vegetables, that I haven't had time to post anything. The tomato and strawberry plants are in the ground! Along with lettuce, carrot, radish, cucumber and sweet pea seeds. The "Salad Bowls" (2 large clay pots planted with salad veggies) have already sprouted and are filled with the cutest little lettuce, baby carrot and radish seedlings. I've also replanted my herb garden (plant in full sun and once established be careful not to over water, think weeds, as many herbs once established need very little care). The old herb bed had pretty much played out as the beautiful Crepe Myrtle and Granny Opal's Canna's have become well established.

I'm growing many things from seed this year for the first time in a long time and am remembering why I started buying so many bedding plants. In order for seeds to germinate you have to water, well, pretty much daily. If the soil drys out, you may be sunk. The Oklahoma wind makes growing from seed challenging to say the least and sometimes I think there's a vortex in my back yard that just sucks an extra portion of wind through here. I have my theories on why Oklahoma is so windy, but I'll be nice to my Texas neighbors...at least for today (BOOMER SOONER)...OK, I can only be so nice where Texas is concerned.

I may have commited a slight faux pax on Facebook where the veggie garden contest is taking place. I told a boy he could enter the contest, oops. Since he's an honerary GF and I've always been one of the guys anyway, I think it will balance out. He has a great sence of humor and I'm sure he will be great in the veggie trash talking portion of the contest, not to mention he has some of the cutest little future gardeners you've ever seen, the most recent one of which arrived just yesterday!!!, so the pics will be fun too!

All for now my Gardening Goddess Girls and the few Gardening Guys (yeah, still no way I'm refering to any of you guys as Gardening Gods),

Till next time,

The Gardening Goddess

ps...as soon as I figure out how to post pics on the blog you'll be seeing plenty of my little patch of Oklahoma Prairie Paradise!!!
