With any luck Oklahoma gardeners have experienced the last freeze of the season! Someone ever managed to turn off the wind machine today!! The cavaly has arrived to help me prepare my veggie beds!!! And life is good!!!!

I'm currently involved in a vegetable gardening contest with all of my favorite Gardening Goddess Girlfriends. BTW, You make one innocent little comment on your friends Facebook page and you find yourself planting vegatables for the, umm, third time in your life and searching for a human scarecrow. I already asked my Handsome Hubby to be the scarecrow, but he absolutly refuses to pose in the back yard wearing a thong. Oops I see the problem now, I meant thongs(flipflops), poor guy.

I talk alot of smack on FB about how I will be crowned the gardening Queen when this friendly little competition is over. So I'll just share that...The first time I tried my hand at growing veggies we had a flood in my little portion of Oklahoma Prarie Paradise. My garden was completely washed out, I had corn popping up in the middle of the yard, and found radishes in some of the oddest places. The second time I planted a vegetable patch I kept it small. My thinking being I couldn't wreak too much havoc with a few tomatoe plants and some squash. We had a drought that year. I got about three ripe tomatoes, half a dozen squash, and a bumper crop of green tomatoes. This year I'm trying to fool the cosmos by not actually planting a "vegetable garden", but by plopping my vegetables in amongst the flowers I grow in abundance with a passion. But still, I'm appologizing in advance for the probably locust plague that will occur in our area once my veggies get growing.

PS...I think my innocent FB comment was something along the lines of...If they weren't afraid to let a Master Gardener in on the contest I would win it hands down...please don't tell them I don't know nuthin bout growin no vegetables...

Till Next Time,

The Gardening Goddess
